SUCCESS STORIES

FAMILY - A few examples of our work

  • A young mother Ms B contacted our emergency number just before Christmas as Social Services applied to the Court to take her baby.  We represented her and managed to persuade the Local Authority to change its plan and mother and child remained together.
  • A grandmother Mrs K contacted us as her grandchildren were in care as the mother could not look after them.  We represented her and got her involved in the case and they were eventually placed with her as family.
  • A father Mr B contacted us as his ex-partner was about to abduct his children to Poland.  We secured emergency orders the same day to prevent this happening and he now sees them regularly.
  • A wife Mrs A contacted us as her husband was transferring large amounts of money to America and she was frightened nothing would be left.  We took urgent instructions and within two days obtained a Worldwide Injunction freezing all of his assets and she will now get a generous settlement.
  • A young mother Ms P who had been regularly beaten was referred by the police.  We saw her the same day and obtained and served injunctions the same day to protect her and her children.
  • We represented a French Father Mr Z accused of abducting his children from France.  With our help he was able to oppose successfully the allegations and organise a good regular pattern of contact with them.
  • A young mother Mrs H contacted us when her husband abducted her children to Pakistan. We quickly secured High Court Orders and then with the help of Authorities in Pakistan managed to negotiate the return of the children.
  • A wealthy husband Mr J contacted us having received a range of Orders regarding his home and finances and the children. We represented him in the proceedings and a fair settlement was reached with generous contact agreed.

HOUSING - A few examples of our work.

  • A lady who was the leaseholder of her property was in dispute with her Managing Agent about the level of service charges she was being asked to pay. We assisted her in making representations to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and the amount of arrears she owed was reduced by over £2,000.
  • A young mother and her disabled son were suffering harassment and anti-social behaviour from a neighbour. We liaised with her GP and Housing Association and managed to get her moved into a higher priority band for re-housing and the Housing Association took action against the neighbour engaging in the anti-social behaviour.
  • A young mother was illegally evicted by her landlord who disposed of all her property. We obtained a Court Order against her landlord requiring him to return her property. In due course a settlement was reached whereby she received compensation from her landlord for illegally evicting her and disposing of her belongings.
  • A married couple were in dispute with the Housing Association in relation to rent arrears. They were in receipt of NASS support but their son was incorrectly assessed as a non-dependant. We liaised with Housing Benefit about the error and payment was made to the clients for £206.88.
  • A married couple had a possession order made against them in relation to mortgage arrears. A warrant of eviction was issued. We assisted the clients in applying to have the warrant suspended to enable them to make payment to clear the arrears thereby allowing them to stay in their home.
  • A young mother had a possession proceedings issued against her on the basis of rent arrears. The arrears were wholly due to an error with Housing Benefit. We assisted her in completing a defence form which she duly filed at court and wrote to the court explaining her position. As a result no possession order was made and she retained possession of her home.
  • A mother with two teenage sons had an injunction made against her as a result of alleged anti-social behaviour. We represented her at court and her Housing Association decided not to pursue an application for her committal to prison. Thereafter we negotiated a variation to the terms of the order so that they were much more favourable to our client.
